Defensive Tactics

A Channel is a straight line of spaces that runs parrelel to the touch lines. The fastest way for an opponent to get to your tryline is to run straight, i.e. along a channel.

You can effectively defend these channels by placing 2 defenders directly behind each other along a channel, this way no matter what Pressure Play cards he has he must move around you as he is not permitted to move over more then 2 players in a row!

Attacking Tactics

With ball in hand you really want to try and get into the opponents 22m area as soon as possible, especially if you opponent is a particularly dirty player. Many, many attacks have been spoiled by an opponents well timed dangerous tackle.

Getting into their 22m area means your team is protected, in some way, from a dangerous tackle (or any other foul play) by the 'Penalty Try' rule.

Player confidence is a major factor on the field. Nothing destroys a rugby players ability quicker then a handling error in a tense situation. With the grunt of disapproval from thousands of fans and the look of disbelief on your team mates faces, it takes a true champion to rise up and deliver!
