Development Rules

cover defence markersIntroducing the Cover Defense rules for Crash Tackle. Now you can strengthen your teams defensive patterns and put in more hits where you need them most. Now you too can create a rush defense and hit players before they get over the advantage line.

At the start of each half, both coaches are given 5 Cover Defense markers to use during that half. Any number of these markers can be placed on the field during each coaches turn.

The Cover Defense counter works as if it was an extra defender. A coach can place these markers on the field in areas he feels his team needs some extra defense.

If an opponent steps in any of the spaces surrounding the marker (Tackle Zones) then one of your players closest to the Cover Defense marker WILL swoop in and make the tackle. Replace the Cover Defense marker with your closest defender and continue play as normal.

Once a Cover Defense marker is used to make a tackle, it is discarded for the rest of that half. If a marker is unused during a turn it can be reused again.

  • Only players within 3 spaces of the Cover Defense marker can be used to make the tackle.
  • If there are no players within 3 spaces then the Cover Defense marker is simply ignored.
  • Grounded players may not be used to tackle.

Cover Defense and off-side

Cover Defense markers can be placed in an off-side position provided that the tackling player is in an on-side position before he is moved to make the tackle.

An off-side player can be used to make the tackle, but must make a referee roll to see if he is penalised.
